About US
Glory Rak's was founded in 2011 by Thomas N. and Dale V.
Thomas and Dale
met in 2004 in Brea, California during New Hire Orientation for a BioMed Company they were working for. Over the next couple of years, they would frequently meet up in numerous training classes across the U.S.
A Life Long Friendship was established.
Thomas was born in Dallas, Texas and moved to New Mexico at an early age. He grew up in the Four Corners region of New Mexico working with family on the Family Farm. Thomas began hunting at an early age with his Dad and Brother. As a teenager, his mother had numerous health issues forcing her into early retirement from teaching and instant concerns for her healthy eating arose. Hunting became and still is an important way to help his mother continue eating healthy. Joining the Navy in 1990, Thomas moved to San Diego, California. A couple of years later, he married his wife of now 19 years, who was also his High School SweetHeart. He served 6 years in the Navy on-board the USS John Paul Jones (DDG-53). While serving in the Navy, Thomas was unable to hunt. He transferred to Oklahoma in 2004. His first hunting season in Oklahoma, he quickly remembered what he had been missing. Thomas started hunting with a couple of co-workers, and realized hunting in Oklahoma was different than the hunting he did growing up. Thomas mentioned..."Being able to teach my son about hunting and watching him get his first deer last year at age 11 has been the Greatest Thrill !" His two daughters, 9 and 5, plan on following in his footsteps very soon. He met Dale the Fall of 2004. They shared their passion for hunting, fishing, and past military experiences. They became instant friends. They kept in close contact despite the distance between their home towns, and were able to meet-up in numerous training classed across the U.S. Thomas's Mother-in-Law was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in the Fall of 2011. After they both shared each others current family medical concerns, they decided that there had to be ways to help. "We not only need to raise the awareness and the concerns of Breast Cancer, we need to find a way to help the "Fight"! Thomas feels they both also decided not to stop there, and also help their fellow Millitary Service Members and Families.... Present/Past/ and Future.....and with that......
Dale was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on the 4th of July. He grew up in the suburbs of Detroit until his sophomore year. His family moved north to a little place on the south shores of Houghton Lake. When his older brother came back from Vietnam, he would take every chance they could to head up from the burbs north to go hunting and fishing. After High School and some College, he met his beautiful bride of now 28 years. He enlisted in the USAF in 1988 at the age of 22. With his wife and his first born, Dale received his first deployment to the Republic of the Philippines. While stationed there, he and his family went thru the volcano Mt. Pinatubo and the mass evacuation from the islands via the Navy (by chance). Dale finished out his 8 Years of service back in the states and honorably discharged in 1995. He left to come “home” to Michigan, entering the civilian workforce and utilizing the training he had as a Medical Lab Technologist. This lead eventually to being hired by an international firm where he met Tom in 2004, and the two became close friends. Tom and Dale shared a passion for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and past military experience. One training session involved a little weekend fishing while in Minnesota, where Tom caught his first Mud Puppy. Dale nearly drowned from laughing over Tom’s actions with his surprise catch (story for another time). Both kept in close contact and were able to meet-up in numerous training sessions across the U.S. Dale lost a sister due to Breast Cancer and with these new common threads, Dale and Tom decided: “We are not done serving yet, there has to be something we can do” ! But how? What could we do that wasn’t already being done? How can we take our common interest, experiences, situations, and DO something”. With a little scribble on a “Post It” pad, Tom sent Dale a word and an idea. Dale, unknown to Tom, was also a Graphic artist. Dale told Tom: “I know a Guy”, and designed a logo...and with that......
